Old-Merit to New-Merit Conversion Chart

The following five tables list how the old-program merits convert to the new color-bordered merit names. Rangers who are currently working on either the old GMA or the Transition GMA may continue to use the old-program merits requirements they have completed toward their GMA work until December 31, 2004. They may also use the new Red (4 required), Gold, Green and Silver merit requirements toward the old GMA and Transition GMA. Other new red- or blue-bordered merit requirements cannot be used toward any of the GMAs.

Starting January 1, 2004 only the new color bordered merit or the old equivalent merit identified in the conversion table can be used to complete work toward the new GMA (March 15, 2003 revision). Also Royal Rangers should not start new merit work using the old merit requirements after the January 1, 2004.

Always use the merits defined in the GMA application as the guide for accepting merits for the Bronze and Silver Medals of Achievements. The Bronze and Silver Medals of Achievement applications also require leadership experience, Christian service hours, and the completion of the old or gold Bible merit, or a required number of orange and brown Bible merits. Review the applications carefully.
