Prayer Promptings
At this point in our lives, most of us have learned to pray. We have raised our family, faced uncertainty, and overcome obstacles that tested our faith. One of the most meaningful ministries we can have is to pray for others.
CHURCH HOSTS CITYWIDE PRAISE GATHERINGS
At the beginning of 2005, Gloria agreed to direct the Heritage Praise Singers, a group of 65 senior adults at Central Assembly. The group prepared and sang for the congregation as well as some other churches in the Greater Springfield Area. With her husband, Jim, Gloria began to envision and pray for an outreach of Praise Gatherings that would affect the churches of the entire Springfield area. On November 18, singers from five churches joined together with the Heritage Praise Singers at Central Assembly, and 400 people from 20 churches of several denominations in the Springfield area attended a night of music on the theme, "The Blood of Christ."
District Senior Adult Ministries Directors
These men and women are vitally important to the ministry to a rapidly growing population in our Assemblies of God Fellowship—senior adults. Some serve dual roles of leadership in their respective districts (frequently with Christian Education and SAM), some are pastors, some are church staff members, and some are lay people serving voluntarily. Whatever their position, all are serving faithfully and effectively.
Now That's a First
In September 2006, John Heide became the first appointed Assemblies of God U.S. Missions representative to Senior Adults. John has been active in the ministry for over thirty years serving as a pastor, college professor, and bible college administrator. He has earned master’s degrees in history, psychology, and a certificate in Gerontology Administration.
