Choices

CHOICES…life is full of choices.  No doubt you have already made several today:  What will I wear?  Where will I have lunch?  How will I spend my day?  Even reading PrimeLine is a choice you made.

A lot of choices we make are incidental and have no real bearing on life.  Others, however, are very important and contribute dramatically to the kind of person we become.

One such choice is in regard to our attitude.  Occasionally I hear someone make the comment, “He (or she) has an attitude!”  The immediate assumption is that that person has a PROBLEM!

It is not a new phrase but one worth repeating…an Attitude of Gratitude!  It seems some people can always find something for which they can be grateful.  They are not insulated from problems and circumstances any more than others; but in their problems and circumstances, they are somehow able to demonstrate a grateful attitude.

I know many senior adults who have discovered this secret.  Even in the midst of life’s trials and difficulties, they testify to God’s faithfulness:  “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23 NIV).

Hear the words of the Apostle Paul to the Philippians (4:4 NIV), “Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again:  REJOICE!”

I have discovered that from time to time I need an attitude check.  Do I just have an attitude, or do I exemplify an attitude of gratitude?  It’s my choice!
