Since 1926, LABI-CA has had a rich heritage of training the Hispanic minister. Faced with expanding educational opportunities for the Hispanic laity, Alice Luce seized the opportunity, and, along with Jovita Bonilla and H.C. Ball, formed LABI-CA, not realizing that it would be a significant investment in the future of the Assemblies of God. From the very beginning, LABI-CA has played an integral role in training pastors, lay leaders, evangelists, and missionaries for ministry, and has contributed greatly to the success of the explosive growth in the Assemblies of God.
LABI-CA exists to educate the mind and influence students to adopt a Christ-centered worldview. Together, these will impact the marketplace for Christ. Students are prodded to excellence in academics through many spiritually gifted and talented professors, along with exciting opportunities to share their faith during spring breaks, practicums and the local church.
While there has been a focus of equipping the future minister, LABI-CA has partnered with Vanguard University to form the “Puente Project.” Students enrolled at LABI-CA will participate in classes that will ultimately transfer to Vanguard University as students progress toward continuing their education in various capacities: teaching, social work, business and medicine.
