Africa's Oasis Project Strikes Water in Zimbabwe
Missionaries Glenda and Steve
Evans
We recently received some great news from Jim and Brenda Strysko that the drilling rig in Garanyemba, Zimbabwe, had struck water. Last year this same drilling company drilled two dry wells in the same area. When drilling for water, there are no guarantees that we will find the water. So what did we do? We began to praying with the churches in Africa and asked our prayer partners in Amercia to pray with us. This past Easter, we celebrated a risen Savior and a HUGE VICTORY in Zimbabwe. The Lord answered our prayers and caused the water to spring forth in this desert area of Zimbabwe.
We received additional news from Dean and Peggy Galyen this week. A steel structure has now been put up at Garanyemba with the help of Bill Moore and a team from the USA. It is the national church's desire to host their conferences in the Garanyemba village. They needed the steel structure and water to help make this happen.
The people now have water to drink at their conference, and they are now able to mix cement with water to make bricks and to complete the steel structure. Soon hundreds of women will be at Garanyemba for their Women's Conference. These women will walk 10 hours or ride donkey carts to attend.
Two years ago, after the women and I had to drink contaminated water at this same conference, I promised them we [Africa's Oasis Project] would drill and find clean water. Now I am excited to go and speak at their conference and see the well dedicated.
The last time I traveled to the Garanyemba village, I rode a donkey cart. During my next trip, I will be taking a car-load of food to Zimbabwe, preaching under the new steel structure, drinking the clean well water, and celebrating with the women.
These people didn't get chocolate eggs or a new outfit for Easter, but they received a better place to meet and clean water to drink! Water is flowing in Zimbabwe, one village at a time. And we are rejoicing with the Galyens, the Stryskos, and the people from Garanyemba.
