Missionaries to Philippines Thank BGMC for Giving
Mary Boyd, BGMC Coordinator
Here at BGMC, we recently received this testimony from missionaries Darrel and Sandy Blatchley, whose ministry to children in the Philippines is called Family Circus. They have a huge circus tent that thousands of kids come to each week where they hear the gospel message, get food to eat, receive vitamins, and get needed medical and dental care. Every week over 7,000 kids come to this tent. To help with feeding the kids, the Blatchley's are also building a bakery and a cafeteria. They are even growing food and raising fish to help feed the kids.
The state of the children in the Philippines is so sad. Millions of kids are poor and malnourished. Hundreds of thousands live in the streets with no place to go. The Assemblies of God has many missionaries in the Philippines who care for lots of these kids. We have many orphanages, children's group homes, and schools.
BGMC has partnered with the Blatchley's (and many of the missionaries in the Philippines) for many years, providing them with the funds for cooking equipment, kitchen equipment, food, children's ministry supplies, and building equipment to minister to the kids. BGMC has provided a money subsidy to help with feeding the kids, providing the medical care, and providing the dental care. Without you, none of this would be possible. To learn more about their ministry go to www.familycircus.org.
Thank you for giving to BGMC. And thank you for teaching your kids to give to BGMC. Because of you, kids all over the world are being helped physically and being reached spiritually with the gospel message.
Blatchley's Report

It
rips at my heart to see the kids sleeping on the sidewalk. I've included a
picture taken just recently of two girls and a couple of other kids-whom I assume
were siblings-who were sleeping on the sidewalk outside the bank with
cardboard as their bedding. A reported 5,000 kids live on the streets in
our town, and the numbers are growing-some by choice,
while others are abandoned. We currently have over 2,000 malnourished kids
coming to Family Circus every week.
This
afternoon [at the time of writing] we are anticipating the arrival of a 40-foot container to be unloaded at Family Circus. It contains many pallets
loaded with food: complete
meals, dried peaches, and vegetables from Convoy of Hope, BGMC, and
donors who's names I don't even know, including children in the USA who cared
enough to give and help other children to have food to eat.
The Family Circus cafeteria and bakery are nearing completion. The wiring is going in and soon we will have a city transformer installed. That means that when the children come to Family Circus we will be able to provide complete meals (as God brings in the resources and friends put their money where their mouth is).
We are excited. It's been a long awaited dream. We know that the need is great, and we are doing what we can to reach out and help.
This
past Sunday [at the time of writing], when I stood up to lead the kids
in singing, a little 8-month-old
child with a burn was crying in the clinic. Our
nurse was having to clean off the antibiotic that had been used in a dangerous
manner. The family had removed the antibiotic from the capsule and sprinkled it
on the wound. The medicine was also killing the flesh, turning it into a glass-like substance. Our nurse taught the proper way to
use the antibiotic while she administered
proper medication and a bandage. The moment the 8-month-old girl heard Sandy and I beginning to sing with
the kids, she looked up and started smiling,
waving her hands to the motions of the song. The Bible says, "Out of the mouth
of babies and infants He has ordained praise."
We are delighted to be a part of a great group of friends who help make all this possible.
