Missionaries Offer Clean Water and Buddy Buckets to Africans
Thanks to BGMC, missionaries Steve
and Glenda Evans were able to provide hundreds of Buddy Barrel water buckets to
the villagers in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
"Because there was water available on the church property in Zimbabwe, the Assemblies of God leaders were able to hold the kids camp," said Glenda Evans. "Over 100 kids attended for three days. There was not much to feed them, but the kids were satisfied with a boiled potato, a piece of butternut squash, and water from the well."
The well Glenda is referring to was provided by AG churches in the United States. BGMC has provided thousands of dollars to help the Evans dig water wells in Africa. BGMC has also provided funds to purchase Buddy Barrel buckets so that the locals in Bulawayo can transport the clean water to their homes.
"We dedicated the finished well at Calvary Tabernacle, in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe," Glenda said. "There were lots of people and lots of excitement because of the new water well, as well as when the BGMC Buddy Buckets were handed out."
Calvary Tabernacle is in the suburbs of Bulawayo where conferences are often held for the region, noted Glenda. For this reason and for the fact that clean water is now rare in this region, a new water well was dug.
"In the past few years, the water situation in Bulawayo has become critical, and the people go for over a week with no water," Glenda said. "Extra offerings have been coming into our account, which enabled us to drill a well at Calvary Tabernacle. The well was drilled right next to the church. We love it this way, as the running water in the well points the people who come and get it to the Living Water that only Jesus can give."
Steve and Glenda had arrived at Calvary Tabernacle in Bulawayo with a vehicle full of buckets and lids, with the Buddy Bucket stickers on the buckets.
"After the service at Calvary
Tabernacle, everyone went outside," says Glenda. "The Buddy Buckets were handed
out to the women, who are the ones who carry the buckets. Steve and Pastor
Chimsoro prayed over the well, dedicating it to the Lord, and asking the Lord
that it would produce much water for many years to come."
Glenda added that the women were so grateful for the buckets given to them by BGMC. They use the buckets to wash clothes or to store water for drinking.
"On that day of the well dedication, Steve and I were full of emotion," Glenda said. "Another church and needy people now have water to drink. We got to help dear people we have known for 26 years. And we got to hand out the Buddy Buckets given by BGMC. Once again, the Lord showed me why we are in Africa: to bring running water and Living Water to those in need. BGMC is helping us to do this. You are helping us to help the people in Africa, one village at a time. Thank you!"
