Lost Change for Lost Souls
Richland Assembly of God
Richland, Washington
I have been at Richland Assembly of God (SE Wash. State) for 10 years. I initially came as the Music Pastor but I've served as Children's Pastor for the last 5 years. During the past decade, our church has included $50 a month ($600 a year) to BGMC as part of the missions giving of our church. So, even though the total giving for a year from children was generally half that amount, BGMC giving was always $600 a year.
Don't get me wrong—I think that that commitment from our church was wonderful.
However, it always bugged me that the kids were never really meeting the goal of $50 a month themselves. So, we decided that for the year 2000 we had to get radical and set a goal of $2,000 for the year 2000. We launched the "Lost Change for Lost Souls" campaign during March, and our first gathering came to about $900 dollars. Some adults continue to bring in Buddy Barrels and our current total for the year is close to $1,500!
We're going to give out the mini M&M containers in two weeks and have people fill them with quarters, which should put us over the top for the year—Praise the Lord!
