The Phone Number

Watch a movie made a few years ago and you will be reminded of how far technology has come. The bad guy cuts the phone cord to someone's house and those inside would be unable to call the police. Not so today. Practically everyone in the house has a cell phone. They can call at a moment's notice, text at a moment's notice, email for help at a moment's notice. Almost any communication can happen as long as you know the person's phone number.

The phone number for heaven is dialed by calling J-E-S-U-S. Acts 2:21 reminds us that in the last days, "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." We take for granted this amazing gift. Across the world are people who don't know about Jesus. They do so many things trying to appease their gods and earn salvation. Yet if they just knew God's phone number, J-E-S-U-S, they could be saved.

There's a job for each of us today. Our job is to let the world know God's phone number. Jesus already died for their sins. They desperately want to know the truth. Children especially are wide open to making the phone call. If only they knew of the free gift of Jesus. If only they knew His phone number.

I must say, it is easy for us to somehow convince ourselves that the world has already made its choice. This is a lie of the enemy. The world doesn't know. In the last 10 years, nearly a billion children have been born. The vast majority of them have never heard the name of Jesus. They don't know they can call on Him for salvation. Meanwhile, as our lives continue with a daily grind of scheduled activities, these children grow up never knowing the Savior.

God has called us to make a difference. Our highest priority is to let the world know the saving knowledge of God. If they are to call on Him for salvation, they must know enough about Him to call. They must know His phone number.
