Leading from the Inside Out: The Art of Self-Leadership

By Samuel D. Rima

Leading from the Inside Out: The Art of Self-Leadership by Samuel D. Rima, needs to come with a warning label to the reader, "Warning: Reading this book will challenge you to explore the inner recesses of your personal values and passions. Do not read if you do not want to change."

Self-leadership is a term that is familiar to all, yet is one of the most difficult disciplines to conquer. Samuel D. Rima expertly weaves the challenge of implementing the discipline of self-leadership into our everyday lives by exploring essential principles for personal growth. Rima states that the process of identifying and articulating our values or beliefs is foundational to the effective exercise of self-leadership. The reader is encouraged throughout the book to identify his or her personal passion for effective service. By so doing, it will allow the individual to live out his or her calling to its greatest fulfillment and sense of purpose.

"Self-leadership is about straining for the finish line until the final moment of the race. It is about running in such a way that we will not stumble to the side of the road or limp across the finish line in survival mode ... it is about leading our lives in such a way that we take hold of all that God has given us so that we might accomplish all those good things that he prepared for us to do before we were even born." (pg. 228)

This book is a must read for any leader today.
