Gayle Leach
Special Assistant for Project Development, Special Touch Ministry
Rev. Gayle Leach and her family reside in Ellendale, North Dakota, and are involved in Special Touch Ministry. Special Touch is a non-profit Christian organization committed to evangelizing and providing support services to people with mental and physical disabilities, their families, and their caregivers.
When invited to minister in local congregations, a presentation is made that includes sharing the daily battles experienced by people with disabilities and how the congregation can partner with Special Touch in meeting the needs of the disabled that worship with them. With over 50 million disabled in the United States, very few are permanent participants in the local church. Area outreaches in communities take place to reach people with disabilities through music, crafts, puppets, and games. These activities become tools to prepare hearts to receive God's Word.
Rev. Leach's ministry goal is to seize every opportunity to share the Word knowing that God is unwilling that any would perish and that all people, including those with varied disabilities, are welcome at God's table. Along with her husband Tom, who became a quadriplegic in a car accident over 25 years ago, God's love is being expressed to the disabled among us.
