Welcome to Saint Joseph, Missouri's Central Assembly of God. An extraordinary church for "ordinary" people. By "ordinary" we mean special, unique, interesting, not conforming to the normal way of thinking of things. First Peter 2:9 defines the best way to be "ordinary": But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. We are to be a thankful people, not only because of the opportunity God has given us, but because of who God is. People have no problem admiring a football player, a movie star, or a politician, but when we show God our admiration just because of who He is, people get uncomfortable. Well, who was able to create all those people, plus the stars in the heavens and all the wondrous creatures and plants we see every day? Who creates the love of a mother for her child, the patience of a grandparent for a grandchild, the compassion of a total stranger for someone in need? All those good things come from God, so yes, we get a little excited about how awesome God is. He gives us a crazy love where we are supposed to love even our enemies! Now, that is not just extraordinary - that feels nutty! We have a hard time understanding it, but it exists and we get excited about the opportunities God gives us each and every day.
